Nat Page is a former diplomat, a farmer, and has been working in Rural Development in Romania for over 10 years. He is one of the founders of the ADEPT Foundation, which is dedicated to creating long-term solutions for the survival of small-scale farming communities and the landscapes in which they live. There are over 3 million small scale farmers in Romania, many of them living in landscapes of great importance from the point of view of nature conservation, rural economy, and national culture. Traditional farming communities have created these landscapes, and only they can preserve them. Can biodiversity conservation be linked to community prosperity? The ADEPT Foundation, supported by Orange Romania, is able to present some success stories, where small-scale farming communities have benefitted in very practical ways, and which can be replicated elsewhere.
